Chateau Nine Peaks, Tsingtao, Shandong

European knowledge meets Chinese tenacity in this monsoonal landscape.

In a region similar to Bordeaux except for its all-but-catastrophic monsoon season, Chateau Nine Peaks proves that its possible to defy the odds.

Chardonnay Reserve

  • 2017

  • 100% Chardonnay

  • Grapes sorted by hand and fermented in 400L oak casks. Aged 12 months on lees with 3-5 batonnages per month.

  • Floral aromas of white and orange blossoms are highlighted with refreshing notes of bitter citrus such as lime and grapefruit. This is all mellowed by a creamy, rich banana flavor that sits on the palette and finishes with toast, vanilla and hazelnut.

Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve

  • 2016

  • 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Grapes sorted by hand. Cold skin contact maceration before fermentation in stainless steel. Aged 14 months in 225L French oak casks (30% new).

  • Balanced red and blackcurrant with dark cherry aromas are complemented by velvety tannin and vibrant acidity. Well integrated notes of toast and vanilla round out the mid palette, with a long, bittersweet berry and coffee driven finish. Age has pronounced a charred cedar character not present in youth.
